Lovely Hula Hands: A Cultural Enrichment Class
Join us for a fun and engaging cultural enrichment class, "Lovely Hula Hands," where kindergarten to 2nd graders will learn the traditional Hawaiian art of hula dancing, music, and history.
In this 45-minute, weekly class, students will discover the basic hula motions and dance steps while being introduced to traditional Hawaiian instruments such as the ukulele and `Uli`uli (Hawaiian feather gourd rattles). Our expert instructor will guide them through a series of fun and interactive lessons that will have them moving and grooving to the rhythm of the islands.
Throughout the semester, students will learn about the rich history and significance of hula dancing in Hawaiian culture, including its origins, symbolism, and connection to the natural environment. They'll also explore the different styles of hula dancing, such as Kahiko (ancient) and Auana (modern), and learn to appreciate the unique rhythms and instruments used in traditional Hawaiian music.
By participating in "Lovely Hula Hands," students will develop their gross motor skills, coordination, and confidence while having a blast making new friends and creating lifelong memories. Who knows? You might just discover a new passion or talent!
